27 or 27
Many people pronounce Level27 as Level27, others as Level27. Level27 is, of course, a Belgian company. And in Belgium, there are three national languages: Dutch, French and German. Regardless of that context, we work in a digital world where English is often spoken. Level is a fairly universal word. And when we don't have much time, we just stick with that. So whether it's 27 or 27, with Level you're always right. But to be completely clear: it's Level27.
Where does the name Level27 come from?
Support is our core business, and Peter understood the importance of good customer service from the very beginning. Even when the company was still supported by just a few people, a personal approach was key. What name could be better than one derived from an SLA, the fact that we are available 24/7 for all customers? Because 24/7 was a little too obvious, Peter decided to make it a derivative. And so Level27 was born.
Or maybe not? No, the real reason has a slightly more symbolic meaning. Those who don't know Peter very well may not know that he sometimes believes in the mystical. When you encounter a certain number frequently in your life, it can have a special meaning. Some people even believe that there could be an “angel” behind it.
Angel 27 wants you to listen to your intuition and prepare yourself for a new chapter in your life. In short: something good is on the horizon. This message meant a lot to Peter when he started Level27, and it is an idea that he still likes to share with the outside world. Anyone who knows Peter well knows that none of the above is true. No bullshit, remember?
Whether you believe or not, certain ideas can convey a beautiful message and therefore be a good source of inspiration when looking for a company name. Peter therefore immersed himself in the principles of Buddhism. Buddhism sees mental states of consciousness as lokiya (worlds). And what is the highest level that exists within the rupa-loka, the subtle or materialistic world? You guessed it right, level 27.
No, okay, let's be serious for a moment. The truth is actually not that exciting. Peter has always had a keen interest in astrology. Did you know that the diameter of the moon is about 27% of the diameter of the Earth? The very planet where Peter started his business? Or was it just a coincidence, because Peter's first office was on the 27th floor of a building? Or, but now I'm thinking completely outside the box, was Peter coincidentally 27 years old when he wanted to move up a level with better hosting?
