What is APM and why is it important?
APM stands for Application Performance Monitoring and is an advanced method for monitoring the performance of web applications. It provides in-depth insights into the functioning of a website, such as speed, response times, database queries, and other essential aspects that influence the user experience.
This is very important, because the faster the website, the more interactions you have with visitors. Conversely, the slower the website, the less effective it is.
So, to say it in short: if your website is slow, you're simply losing revenue.
The Level27 APM: A long-awaited breakthrough
We have known for some time that powerful APM tools such as New Relic are quite expensive and can sometimes be a little confusing. Our team is therefore always critical when using programs, and if we think we can do better, we simply work it out!
So after a long search, writing and testing, we are very pleased to present the Level27 APM to the general public.
The Level27 APM is available to all agency hosting customers with recent PHP versions. When we activate the option, an agent is installed that collects the monitoring data and forwards it to the central servers. After a few minutes, you can already see the results in our control panel.

What features does the Level27 APM have?
The basics: statistics
The first feature is statistics. When APM is enabled on a website, you have access to an infinite number of statistics and graphs about what your website is doing:
Abnormal behavior is easy to spot by comparing it with data from the previous week. This gives you an immediate point of comparison without having to set up multiple screens side by side.
The graphs can be enlarged to make them easier to share with customers.
You can view latency, throughput, number of errors, or even a breakdown of what the application is doing (code, database, or external calls).
The icing on the cake: transactions
Transactions or traces are the killer feature to which New Relic owes much of its success. Through transactions, the APM tracks all details of a specific page or request as soon as it exceeds a certain duration (e.g., 1.5 seconds).
By tracking these transactions, you can see in great detail what that page is doing at that specific moment. Was it executing code or waiting for a database or an external API?
In concrete terms, by tracing these transactions, you can detect more than 95% of all application problems!
Conclusion
Like New Relic, Level27 APM is a useful tool for detecting and resolving performance issues in applications. However, the important difference lies in the price and functionalities.
