The DMARC dilemma decoded
DMARC is like a cyber superhero that protects us from dark forces such as phishing and spoofing. It enables domain administrators to say, ‘Hold on a minute! Only legitimate emails from authorised sources are allowed through.’
Spoofing is a technique whereby someone disguises their identity in order to impersonate another person, computer or network device. It can be used for various purposes, including phishing, whereby emails or websites are falsified to appear legitimate. In phishing, scammers attempt to obtain sensitive information such as passwords, credit card details and other personal data by posing as a trustworthy source.
Why we love DMARC
- Protection against internet scammers: With DMARC, we can expose the crooks who try to deceive us with fake emails and send them back where they came from.
- Security: By using DMARC, we make our email infrastructure so strong that no intruder can get in.
- Better email delivery & less frustration: DMARC helps us improve the delivery of our important emails so they don't end up in your spam folder.
- Transparency and reporting: DMARC provides us with detailed reports on our email traffic.
Level27 and DMARC
At Level27, we understand the value of email security like no other. That is why we automatically provide DMARC for all our customers. This ensures that our customers' emails are secure and reliable.
We have implemented this for our customers by adding a DMARC record to every domain known within our control panel. It is important that the domain also has an SPF and a DKIM record to guarantee the functioning of the DMARC record.
SPF and DKIM are both mechanisms that help verify the sender of an email. Together with DMARC, they form a powerful combination for email authentication.
